FRACKING IN ARLINGTON

Drill Sites in Arlington , Texas

The city of Arlington, Texas, better known for the Dallas Cowboys and the World Series Champion Rangers, and now the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is also a major producer of fossil fuels.

It has hundreds of gas wells using hydraulic fracturing to extract methane gas, compressor stations, and hundreds of miles of gas pipelines.

400,000 people live close to fracking sites, making Arlington an egregious example of urban drilling. Pollution from fracking operations accelerates climate breakdown and creates multiple health crises for residents.

Fracking operations are allowed as close as 300 feet to homes, daycares, medical offices, and schools.

Half of Arlington public schools and daycares are less than 0.5 mile from gas wells. Arlington also has the highest rate of childhood asthma in the state of Texas - 1 in 4 children have asthma.

Most drill sites in Arlington are owned by French energy giant TotalEnergies (Total). Total extracts methane gas in Arlington for export to France and other countries in Europe where fracking is banned

If you want to find how close your home, your child's school, or park is to drilling, check out our map here.
