The city of Arlington, Texas, known for the Dallas Cowboys, the World Series Champion Rangers, and now the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is also a major producer of fossil fuels.
The city has hundreds of gas wells right next to daycares and homes, that use hydraulic fracturing to extract methane gas. It also has hundreds of miles of pipelines and major compressor stations, to move the gas to market.

The city of Arlington permits fracking operations as close as 300 feet to homes, daycares, medical offices, and schools.

Half of Arlington public schools and daycares are less than 0.5 mile from gas wells.​ Arlington also has the highest rate of childhood asthma in the state of Texas - 1 in 4 children have asthma.
Most drill sites in Arlington are owned by French energy giant TotalEnergies (Total). Total extracts methane gas in Arlington for export to France and other countries in Europe where fracking is banned. Total has been drilling new gas wells at a rapid pace since 2021.
