It has hundreds of gas wells that use hydraulic fracturing to extract methane gas, and hundreds of miles of pipelines and major compressor stations, to move the gas to market.

Most drill sites in Arlington are owned by French energy giant TotalEnergies (Total). Total extracts methane gas in Arlington for export to France and other countries in Europe where fracking is banned. Total has been adding new gas wells at a rapid pace since 2021.
